Rihanna Shooting Suspect Charged With Attempted Murder

A frightening shooting at Rihanna’s Los Angeles home has now turned into a serious criminal case. Prosecutors have charged a Florida woman with attempted murder after gunfire struck a trailer where the 38-year-old singer and A$AP Rocky were sitting. The shocking incident left the couple shaken but unharmed.

Authorities say the suspect fired multiple rounds at the Beverly Crest property in broad daylight. The bullets struck the outer gate and pierced the windshield of an Airstream trailer parked in the driveway. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were inside that trailer when the shots rang out.

The suspect now faces a long list of felony charges. If convicted, she could spend the rest of her life in prison.

The Daylight Shooting That Shocked the Neighborhood

Rihanna / IG / The shooting happened on March 8, 2026, around 1:20 p.m. at Rihanna’s home on Heather Road in the Beverly Crest neighborhood.

Police say Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, a 35-year-old woman from Orlando, Florida, drove up to the front of the property in a white Tesla before opening fire.

Investigators believe Ortiz used a semiautomatic rifle described as an AR-15 style weapon. At least ten shots were fired toward the property, according to law enforcement sources. Several rounds hit the outer gate and shattered the windshield of the trailer where Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were sitting.

The couple escaped without injury, but the moment was terrifying. Bullets passing through the trailer could easily have caused serious harm.

At the time of the shooting, the family home was full. Rihanna’s children, sons RZA and Riot, and 6-month-old daughter Rocki, were inside the main house along with Rihanna’s mother and two staff members. A neighboring residence was also struck by gunfire.

Prosecutors File 14 Criminal Charges

Los Angeles County prosecutors moved quickly after the arrest. The district attorney’s office filed 14 criminal counts against Ortiz, including one count of attempted murder. The remaining charges include ten felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and three counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or camper.

Prosecutors argue the attack was intentional and carefully planned. Court documents describe the alleged attempt on Rihanna’s life as willful, deliberate, and premeditated.

The suspect made her first court appearance on March 10, 2026. During the hearing, she did not enter a plea. Her public defender initially entered a not guilty plea but later withdrew it, which led to the arraignment being postponed.

The court scheduled the next hearing for March 25, 2026. That hearing will likely determine how the case moves forward. Judge Theresa McGonigle set bail at $1.875 million. The judge also issued a protective order that requires Ortiz to stay away from Rihanna and A$AP Rocky if she manages to post bail before trial.

Police responded quickly once shots were reported. Authorities say Ortiz fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Investigators tracked her vehicle and arrested her roughly thirty minutes later in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood.

The case is now being handled by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery Homicide Division.

Troubling Online Messages Surface

Rihanna / IG / Investigators have also uncovered disturbing online posts linked to the suspect. Authorities say Ortiz posted several aggressive and threatening messages about Rihanna on social media in the weeks before the shooting.

On Facebook, she allegedly addressed the “Breakin’ Dishes” directly using hostile language. The posts suggested anger and resentment toward the singer.

The suspect also ran a YouTube channel called “Diary of a Praying Woman.” In several videos posted earlier this year, she reportedly made strange and troubling comments about the singer. One video from early January contained a particularly alarming statement. Ortiz allegedly said, “Rihanna, when you die, God will guide me to my future.” Investigators believe comments like this may reveal a fixation that built over time.

Court records show that Ortiz has had previous legal trouble in Florida. Past charges reportedly include domestic violence involving her former husband, careless driving, and violating conditions tied to earlier legal cases.

Reports also indicate she was involuntarily committed for psychiatric evaluation in 2023 under Florida’s Baker Act. The Baker Act allows authorities to place someone under temporary mental health evaluation if they appear to be a danger to themselves or others.
